A Resonant Drum Cake Recipe

    Materials
    2 Cakes made with a round mold (16 cm in diameter)
    Cardboard base the same size as the cake
    Round wooden base with a border 5 cm bigger than the cake
    Cream or jam for filling
    1 1/2 recipe of fondant
    ¼ kg sweet condensed milk
    ½ recipe of royal glaze
    1 recipe of glaze for thin traces
    Blue, red, yellow and brown food coloring paste
    Decorating sleeve
    Small and big fine filter tips

    Drumsticks
    Dye a piece of fondant red and another blue. Mold a stick with each color of 15 cm in length. Let them dry for 24 hours.

    Shaping and decoration

    1. Join the cakes with jam or cream between them.
    2. Place the cake on top of the cardboard base; dampen it with the sweet condensed milk.
    3. Knead the fondant and cut a circle the same size as the surface of the cake of ½ cm in thickness. Cover the cake.
    4. Measure the height and circumference of the cake.
    5. Stretch the fondant to ½ cm in thickness and cut a portion to cover the lateral sides of the cake. Place it on top of the fondant and roll it. Rest it on the wooden base.
    6. Measure the circumference of the cake again and divide it in eight parts.
    7. Divide a portion of fondant in two and color one half red and the other half blue. Stretch it until you get 2 mm of thickness.
    8. Cut 8 rectangles of each color of 6,5cm by 3cm approximately. Stick them to the cake with egg white, inserting the colors according to the model.
    9. Cut another portion of the orange colored fondant, stretch it and cut another strip of 1cm in thickness and the measure of the circumference. Place it around the top part of the drum.
    10. Color a portion of fondant brown and stretch it until you have 2 mm in thickness. Cut 8 strips of 5cm in length and 6 strips of 3 cm in length. Place them covering the union of the red and blue squares. The longer ones go on top and the shorter ones on the bottom.
    11. With the yellow colored royal glaze in a decorating sleeve and a big fine filter tip, trace a dotted line from and to the brown strips forming a zigzag. After, make a second line and finish them by making a big dot in the lower line.
    12. Using the decorating sleeve and small fine filter tip and orange royal glaze, trace a dotted line in the lower panels and three dotted lines on each one of the red and blue top panels; finish them by making a circle. On the inner border of the surface of the drum, make a dotted line.
    13. With the same filter tip design a knot on each one of the big dots.
