Ingredients
1 cup of extra fine sugar
¼ cup of all purpose flour, sifted
¼ cup of dark cocoa powder, sifted
¾ cup of pistachios, in pieces
150 grams of dark chocolate, in pieces
150 grams of butter, melted
2 teaspoons of vanilla essence
2 eggs, slightly beaten
- Preparation time: 20 minutes
- Baking time: 50 minutes
Preparation
- Preheat the oven at a moderate temperature of 180 degrees C. Grease a round 20 centimeter in diameter baking mold with melted butter or oil. Cover the base and the walls with wax paper.
- Mix the sugar, the flour, the cocoa powder and the nuts in a big bowl. Add in the chocolate and mix all the ingredients well. Form a hole in the center.
- Mix the butter, the vanilla essence and the eggs and add it into the previous mixture. Stir until all the ingredients are well soaked in the liquid and well mixed.
- Pour the preparation into the mold and smoothen the surface out. Bake the cake for 50 minutes or until when poking the center of the cake with a wooden pick it comes out clean. (Remember though that if the pick comes out a little wet, it does not mean that the cake is not done). Sprinkle with confectioner’s sugar and serve.
