Common Mallow in Medicinal Herbs

    Curative properties

    Acne: wash the affected area with the brew.

    Tonsillitis, pharyngitis and laryngitis: make gargles with the brew or maceration. Also you can do inhalations or fumigations.

    Asthma: do inhalations or drink the maceration.  Also cook 25g of leaves and flowers with milk and honey and drink the broth. 

    Arthritis: apply a cataplasm from roots and leaves.

    Weight loss: drink one or two cups of the brew fasting for 30 days.  Rest and begin treatment again.

    Bronchitis: do inhalations or drink the maceration.  Also cook 25g of leaves and flowers with milk and honey and drink the broth.

    Sedative: drink twice a day the brew of 40g of leaves and flowers per liter of water.

    Conjunctivitis and eye irritation: wash with the infusion.

    Cuts and scrapes: apply a fresh leaf cataplasm over the affected area.

    Skin care: do cleanliness with the steam of the brew.

    Digestive: drink the wine.

    Diuretic: drink the infusion or brew of 30g of the plant per liter of water, 3 times a day.

    Furuncles: apply a cataplasm from grinded leaves and fresh flowers.

    Flu: drink the brew of 35g of leaves and flowers in a liter of water, several times a day.

    Hemorrhoids: apply a fresh leaf cataplasm or wash over the affected area.  If not, drink 2 cups daily of the brew.

    Vaginal infection: wash with the infusion of mallow. Do not do it while menstruating. 

    Inflammation: drink the infusion, leaf maceration or the wine.

    Skin inflammation: apply compresses or wash over the affected area with the infusion.

    Laxative: drink one cup 2 to 3 times a day the brew.

    Bites: apply a leaf cataplasm over the affected area or drink the juice from the fresh plant.

    Burns: apply compresses or boiled leaves over the affected area.

    Cough: do inhalations or drink the maceration.  Also cook 25g of leaves and flowers with milk and honey and drink the broth.

    Gastrointestinal ulcers: drink the maceration or the wine.

    Preparation 

    Cataplasm: grind fresh leaves and flowers until transforming it to powder.   Place them in any natural porous fiber and use as bandage over affected area until discomfort diminishes. Also apply directly over affected area covering the paste with a hot towel.

    Brew: boil in low temperature 50g of leaves per liter of water during 5 minutes. Let stand for a few minutes, strain and serve.

    Infusion: add 30g of leaves to a liter of boiling water.  Let stand for 15 minutes.

    Inhalations: boil one liter of water and add 25g of leaves and flowers.  Inhale the vapors directly from the pot, covering eyes and mouth.  You can also use a paper or carton cone that adapts mouth and nose.

    Juice: crush the plant with a few drops of water.  Place it in gauze, squeeze and strain the loose juice.

    Maceration: add 30g of the plant to a liter of cold water.  Let stand between 6 to 12 hours.

    Wine: macerate 80g of flowers and leaves into a liter of white wine for 10 days. Drink several times a day.

    Precaution
    In case of pregnancy or nursing, do not use without medical supervision.
